Several things you need to remember before buying any used car

There are so many considerations that one should think about before he or she buys a car. One of the most common considerations is about the necessity to buy a new car or a used car dealers Manchester NH. The car might not be a luxurious item anymore since it is needed by almost everyone in this country. Even though there are some cars which are designed for luxurious purpose, but the fact that car is not a prestigious item anymore is not something that I can argue. However, even though they are not a luxurious item anymore, it does not mean that all people in this country can afford to buy a car just like they can afford to buy some bags of chips. We have to remember that there are some people who earn less salary than you and these people also need a car to support their job. If you are included into those kinds of people, buying used car might be one of the best solutions that you can always choose to save your expenses in buying car. However, before you buy any used car, you should remember several things.
The first thing that you need to remember when you buy a used car is to always check its quality right on the car dealer’s place. This is recommended because if you feel that there is something wrong with the car, you can directly ask for another car. The second thing that you have to remember is to select the right type of car that you really need. For example, if you are a type of a person who likes to go with a lot of people, it is better for you to choose an SUV rather than a sedan because SUV can be filled with at least four people at once.

The 2013 Buick Enclave Obtained Modest Midcycle Updates

When the 2013 Buick Enclave made its official debut at the 2012 New York Auto Show, a lot of car buyers and experts have noticed that the vehicle has obtained some modest yet appropriate midcycle updates. Most of the car experts that were present during the event were convinced that the Enclave really deserve such updates given the fact that most of its closest competitors are currently upgrading their own models to cope with the competition on the segment.
One of the most significant updates that were seen on the 2013 Buick Enclave was mainly implemented on the vehicle's exterior design. The latest version of the Enclave has received a major overhaul in its front end. As part of the overhaul, Buick engineers and vehicle developers have installed a new black-chrome grille on the vehicle to make this look more attractive and upscale. Aside from that, the Enclave has also received a new set of xenon HID head lights with built-in translucent blue rings. The new set of headlamps was further complimented by a new set of LED daytime running lights.
Aside from the changes on the vehicle's front end, the company's personnel who were tasked to update the 2013 Buick Enclave have also revised the car's rear portion. Due to the changes that were done, the 2013 Buick Enclave received a new rear fascia. Since the new rear fascia is equipped with integrated exhaust outlets that are framed in chrome and new set of LED taillamps, these items have further improved the vehicle's rear appearance.
The modest midcycle updates that were implemented on the 2013 Buick Enclave has also increased the number of standard items that are offered on the vehicle. Due to these updates, the cabin of the latest version of the Enclave is now equipped with an ice-blue LED ambient lighting that makes the dash look more upscale and elegant. In addition to this, the Enclave has obtained a newly-developed center stack that holds the LCD touchscreen display of the IntelliLink system and the tri-zone climate control system.
In order to further improve the vehicle's safety, Buick just like Chevrolet and GMC has installed a new front center airbag on the 2013 Buick Enclave. This airbag was designed to help the front seat occupants from incurring possible injuries when the Enclave encounters a frontal collision. Finally, Buick's engineers have also revised the front and rear dampers of the vehicle to further improve the ride quality that the 2013 Buick Enclave provides.

2014 Chevrolet Impala Unveiled

Chevrolet has chosen the 2012 New York Auto Show as the event where they have revealed the upcoming 2014 Chevrolet Impala. Although Chevrolet failed to present the actual redesigned version of the iconic model, they released a video that presents the marketing strategy that the brand is using to promote this range-topping four-door vehicle.
As part of the brand's marketing strategy, the video have shown images Jon Hahn who is the current marketing manager of the Impala explaining some of the best and new exciting features found on the upcoming version of the Impala. According to Hahn, the 2014 Chevrolet Impala is the "tenth" generation of the legendary Impala nameplate. As part of Chevrolet's commitment to provide its customers with the best vehicles, their personnel has tweaked the Impala's features and refined most of its dominant aspects most especially the car's exterior and interior design, performance and handling, and the number of standard features offered by the vehicle.
Starting with the exterior design of the 2014 Chevrolet Impala, it is quite obvious that the personnel involved in the production of this car have accomplished a great job in transforming the vehicle's frontal appearance. The revisions that were implemented have further improved the Impala's front area. The upcoming version's front end will be flaunting the newest design statement from Chevy and this is characterized by the low profile long flowing lines the starts with the first HID headlamp all throughout the second one. In addition to this, the car is also equipped with a new and wider grille, new set of LED daytime running lamps, and a hood design which is quite similar to that of the Chevrolet Camaro.
In addition to this, the two sides of the 2014 Chevrolet Impala were created with flowing design. The windows have longer stance that makes the vehicle's interior look roomy when viewed outside. Aside from that, Jon Hahn has also stressed out that the 2014 Chevrolet Impala will be using the 20-inch wheels and this particular set-up made the vehicle as the first model in the segment to use such wheels.
Aside from Jon Hahn, Russ Clark who is the latest Marketing Director for Chevrolet Performance and Mid-Size Vehicles appeared on the video and his task was to present the improvements and features found inside the 2014 Chevrolet Impala. Clark explained that the cabin of the upcoming version of the Impala is based on the so-called "dual cockpit" layout that allows the driver and other car occupants to maximize the space provided by the vehicle as well as move freely when on board.

When Do You Need Transmission Repair?

From grinding and popping to jerking and shaking, several odd engine sounds and vehicle movements can indicate the need for transmission repair on your vehicle. If you begin to notice some of the following common symptoms, you'll want to get your car seen by a qualified mechanic immediately. These types of problems never get better with time, and replacement parts are often extremely expensive!
One of the first warning signs is trouble shifting. If your car shifts roughly or absolutely refuses to shift into gear, you should take it to a car shop immediately for evaluation. Many times, unusual noises begin to occur during driving. The gears may grind as they shift or you may hear a loud humming or buzzing as you accelerate to highway speeds.
Besides weird noises, your car may begin to make some strange movements also. It may jerk as you shift gears or shake as you speed up. Since it's your car, you'll be the first to notice these strange movements. Explain them to the technician along with any other odd symptoms.
Another early indication is leaking fluid. The fluid is typically a pinkish color. It's designed to move throughout the equipment constantly, and doesn't need to be replaced often. If you notice a pinkish or brownish colored liquid leaking under your car, check the fluid level. If it's low, you'll need to take it in immediately so the mechanic can find out where the leak is coming from and replace the lost fluid. Since it's designed to lubricate and cool mechanical parts that would otherwise become very hot, low fluid should never be ignored.
If the check engine light on your car's dashboard lights up, you should always take the car in to be seen and evaluated by a professional. The check engine light is designed to illuminate when something in the engine is not running smoothly and it may indicate a problem with the transmission as well. Usually the mechanic will obtain printed information from your vehicle's computer which gives him a clue to the problem.
A final indication is a burnt smell coming from your engine. You may smell it while you're driving or you may notice it when you get out of the car after a drive. This smell can be caused by overheating fluid. Once again, check to see the color and level of the fluid. If it's low or is assuming a brownish color, you will probably need to have some transmission repair work done along with replacing the fluid. The fact that the fluid is overheating indicates that the various mechanical parts aren't moving smoothly together. Instead they're rubbing roughly and causing friction, which causes the heat that overheats the fluid and turns it the burnt brown color.
If you begin experiencing problems with your transmission, it's important that you take your car in to be seen by a professional as soon as possible. Transmission repair is much less expensive than getting the entire part replaced.

Truck Decals Help Design and Define the Rig

Your rig will look like a dream machine with custom decals and specially made truck decals designed to identify your firm with high-class and style. Whether you are a small businessman, independent owner / operator, or have a whole fleet of trucks under your command, good quality truck decals can make a very important first impression to the public.
Even if you belong to a professional club, association or any other identifiable group, consider getting custom decals to use your truck as a great advertising medium. With the truck decals in plain sight day after day, your firm is getting a constant stream of viewers and increased brand recognition every time you take it out for a spin for business or pleasure. Everyone knows that a quality decal speaks volumes about the person behind the wheel.
Whether your truck is a big rig or a small fish in the sea of drivers, you will get the respect that you deserve when it's plain to see that yours is one of those truck decals made of superior inks, materials and most importantly, get your contact information printed up correctly.
There are some companies that specialize in pickup truck decals, others that specialize in semi truck decals and others that specialize in both.
When it comes to truck decals, it pays to double-check with the Better Business Bureau before you place a serious order. It pays to make sure that you are dealing with a reputable printing firm. It's easier to be wise in choosing a reputable truck decals manufacturer before money passes hands, because frankly speaking, there is no telling when, or how, your investment will be returning to you if the deal isn't satisfactorily completed.
Truck decals can be made of several different, attractive, and weather resistant materials. There are chrome (shiny) or brushed chrome custom decals. White reflective vinyl decals will make your company logo really stand out. With your choice of custom or standard shapes, any unique design can be created for these custom decals.
Who uses truck decals? Just about anyone who does business from their truck or belongs to a company or organization that requires a truck's general services. A car or bicycle dealership may also use a truck for various needs and service. This is a great opportunity to advertise your firm on a service vehicle that is being used on a frequent, if not every day basis.
Once you decide which design you like the best, make sure that the digital proof is error free and looks like you want it to, and that if you have specific colors you need, you've specified those colors. The standard time to fill an order is generally five or six working days, but if you are in a big rush, alternate options are available for an additional small rush charge.
Pantone Color Matching is what printers use to match color. Because it is the international standard for color, you can have a printer in Timbuktu, Ethiopia print the color you spec from anywhere in the world. In choosing to create truly quality custom decals, you send the message to your peers and your target market that your company is up to date. Custom color matching, digital design and other new graphic developments are among the newest updated design and print techniques.
Truck decal sizing is determined by the length and width of the area of the truck's surface you decide to cover. The size of your decal can't exceed that area, but it's best to think big when you place your order. People who are driving behind or beside you won't be able to read your ad or company identity if it's too small.
Also, if you don't expect your information to change anytime soon, it pays to order a more truck decals than you currently need. If you are able to place a really large order, quantity discounts will help bring the price to a much lower level which adds more to brand recognition and buyer loyalty.

Nissan NV200 Named "Taxi of Tomorrow"

New York City has named the innovative Nissan NV200 its "Taxi of Tomorrow." The 2014 Nissan NV200 will replace all currently used cab models by 2018, which is going to outmode approximately 13,237 older cabs.
The Choice
This well-deserved recognition dates back to the 2011 choice made by the Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC). When presenting the proposed model to the judges, Nissan faced stiff competition. Ford brought its classic Crown Victoria to the table; a formidable model in its own right, it nevertheless did not contain the modern features the TLC insisted tomorrow's taxi should possess.
At the same time, the collection of nine companies currently in charge of taxi manufacture also brought forward their most popular car models. Even so, none was a match for the revolutionary Nissan NV200. Company insiders note that this honor opens the door to $1 billion in revenues over the next decade. It also highlights that the company is eminently able to design, manufacture, and deliver a public-use vehicle that can travel the estimated annual 70,000 miles the typical New York City cab drives.
What Convinced the Judges?
New York's cabbies net approximately 600,000 fares on a given day. This translates into an estimated 236 million passengers per year. Cab drivers and passengers value environmentally friendly technology that nevertheless delivers all the creature comforts a standard passenger vehicle provides. The Nissan NV200 delivers on all fronts. Anti-microbial upholstery, passenger-controlled air conditioning and heating, USB charging outlets for passenger use, and LED cabin lighting are just a few of the standout features that convinced the TLC. Safety is another major consideration. More than just innovative touches, sliding passenger doors sharply reduce the collision risk for bicyclists when cabs load and unload passengers.
Nissan also committed to collaborate with New York in an effort to enhance the functionality of electric zero emission vehicles. By the end of 2012, Nissan intends to produce six electric cars ready for testing in the local market.
New but Still Iconic
New York's Nissan NV200 cabs are going to be taxicab yellow. The rims will be signature edition versions of standard Nissan rims. Cabins will be bigger, more comfortable for passengers with long legs, and easier to enter and exit because of the appreciably higher roof. It is interesting to note that noise pollution is another issue solved by the sleek new taxis. Low-annoyance horns alert motorists and pedestrians to the cab's presence, but do so at a much more measured decibel level. Tourists are sure to appreciate the transparent roof feature, which gives cab passengers the opportunity to marvel at New York's sights while comfortably and safely seated.
Forward Looking in Every Way
Initially there will be 2,000 accessible models of the NV200 on the streets of New York City. These particular vehicles feature wheelchair access ramps and safety straps, Braille writing within the cabin, and a flat floor. Cab drivers of all models will appreciate power-heated mirrors, six-way adjustable driver seats, passenger exit warning lights, and fuel-efficient 4-cylinder engines. The steel rim package offers a sleek appearance, while rear cabin lighting for passengers offers additional safety for the driver.

Should You Sell A Car On Craigslist?

If you have a used car you no longer need, you may be looking at ways to sell it. You might be considering using Craigslist but have concerns about its safety. There are ways to sell your car successfully and safely using Craigslist.
One advantage of Craigslist over some of the other online sites is that it is local. That means you will not get phone calls or emails from people who are hundreds of miles away and therefore unlikely to purchase your car. Also, Craigslist does not get involved with the price or payment. You and the buyer are able to come to an agreement without any interference and there is no charge for your ad.
Before you get started, you should familiarize yourself with the motor vehicle laws in your state. For example, in Massachusetts the used car has to pass inspection and in Oklahoma, the buyer has 72 hours to change their mind. Many states require you to return the license plates to the Department of Motor Vehicles. In other states, the license plates remain on the vehicle.
You should also get all the paperwork together for your car including the title, lien release, car repair records, etc. A possible buyer will want to examine them. They may also want to see a CarFax or AutoCheck report on the car, so you should get one.
Your ad should include all the details on the vehicle including the year, make, model, mileage, etc. Pricing the car reasonably will help you get serious buyers. You should also include all the positive aspects of the car. Putting a phone number in addition to an email address will make possible buyers feel more comfortable.
Ask callers many questions to determine if they are serious about your car. You will want to ask what kind of car they are interested in, what their price range is, how soon they need it, do they have a family, etc. The more questions you ask, the more you get a feel for whether your car would be appropriate for the person.
Wash the car before you show it and clean and vacuum the interior. This will make it more appealing. Remove all your personal property from the trunk and glove compartment. If you have stickers on the vehicle, remove them too. Take pictures of your car inside and out. The pictures will protect you if the buyer claims there are problems after the sale.
Once you get to the point when someone wants to look at the car, do not show it at your home. Make the appointment to show the car at a public place during the daytime. Do not go alone and take your cell phone with you in case you need to call the police. Accompany the person during the test drive.
Only accept cash, a bank check or postal money order for payment. If you accept a personal check, the buyer could stop payment, or it could bounce leaving you with nothing.

Augmented Reality Driver's Training In a Self Driving Car Simulator on Real Roads

Training young drivers isn't so easy, and it's enough to have you pulling your hair out, well unless you have a death wish and love to live on the edge for just the adrenal rush. One of the best ways to train drivers, other than driving around in one of those dual steering wheeled vehicles with an extra brake pedal, is to use a simulator, virtual reality style, albeit a cruder version than let's say an aircraft simulator.
But what if we could use augmented reality to teach driver's education, perhaps using a robotic driving indestructor, Freudian Slip, I meant to say "instructor" and before you say I am crazy, let me give you some component information as to my plan here, as there is a bit of method to my madness, I think?
Now then, Joseph B. White wrote an interesting article on April 26, 2012 in the Wall Street Journal, perhaps you noted the piece yourself; "Google Seeks Partners for Its Autos," which stated that Google was in contact with all of the major car companies to see if it might license some of its latest self-driving car technologies or partner up with them, a wise choice indeed from my perspective.
Well, how about self-driving cars for driver's training, the car would drive and the student would steer and the car would measure how close the steering, braking, and acceleration controls were applied by the student, against the actual safe driving of the self-driving system, as the controls wouldn't be hooked up but would nevertheless be the ultimate in augmented reality simulation you see? Of course as you know all of the results from the student's performance could be stored in Google's new cloud offering; Drive! Maybe that's why they are calling it drive, it's a test-drive for something bigger?
Eventually, as enough video footage and data was taken, we could make driving simulators so realistic it would actually blow away the jet-fighter simulators in realness. Plus, no one could get hurt, and no driving instructors would have heart problems of nervous breakdowns.
The robotic system would record everything and give the student a pass or fail, or a list of areas of (much) needed improvement, or things to study up on for the future? And if we did this, we could also use the same system and strategy for truck drivers, until all the trucks drive themselves of course, and for student pilot training also. Indeed, I hope you will please consider all this and think on it.

2012 Nissan Altima Review and Road Test

One of the constants in the automotive landscape is the Japanese mid-size sedan. The Nissan Altima is one of the best known in this segment. Since the late 80's buyers have flocked to their models because of their quality, dependability and re-sale value. Historically car buyers have paid thousands more for a well known Japanese sedan than a similarly equipped Korean or American model. But like so many things these days the car market is changing rapidly. The Japanese manufacturers are feeling the heat from the up-start Koreans and the re-invigorated Americans. The modern buyer will often be as likely to buy a Hyundai as a Nissan these days. The real question here is how does the 2012 Nissan Altima stack up to its competition?
On the outside the 2012 Altima has somewhat dated, but pleasant styling. There is a noticeable absence of such features as fender vents, projector headlights or LED tail lights. Some more conservative buyers may think this is positive. The Altima looks the way most mid-size sedans have all ways looked; sleek but with nothing that makes it unique in the market place.
On the inside the Altima isn't too exciting to look at but the materials are of a good quality. Our test car had nice suede-like materials on the arm rests on the doors and the centre console. The seat is comfortable with a good range of adjustment. The centre stack and dash look dated compared with many of the new entries in this segment. While the quality of materials is good the hardware is out-dated. One of the worst examples is the non-graphic low resolution display for the radio, this unit is on all models not equipped with navigation. Heating and ventilation controls are simple to use but again lack any unique touches. Our car had a leather wrapped steering wheel that has a nice feel to it. The available sunroof is a standard size, not panoramic like the Kia Optima. The back seat has enough room for most adults. The trunk has a convenient large opening with ample space and split folding back seats for added versatility.
On the road one of the first things one notices is the good rear visibility blind spots are all most nonexistent. Acceleration on our 175 horsepower 2.5L 4 cylinder model was lackluster, probably mostly due to the CVT automatic transmission. While known for returning excellent fuel economy in the city the CVT is not known for performance. Handling is sharp and well composed but the Altima is still nice to steer at low speeds. The Nissan takes corners very well, better than most cars is this class. Cabin noise levels are average for a vehicle of this class. The engine gets a little noisy when pushed under acceleration. Over all it must be said that the Altima still feels slightly more solid that its Korean or American competition.
The bottom line: The Nissan Altima is still a good car, but with strong competition coming from all sides Nissan needs to price the car aggressively.

Why You Need Dedicated Auto Repair Shop Customer Service Representatives

Hiring a CSR ensures that your auto repair shop is providing an exceptional experience by focusing on relationship-building tasks that are crucial for your business's success.
Have you ever tried to wear all the hats in your auto repair shop? You probably know the scenario. It's a busy day in the shop and your time is stretched thin so you treat one customer poorly because you have one or two problem cars lined-up and the phone starts ringing. Afterward, you fix what needs fixing but you completely forget to follow up with the first customer and you don't have time to mail Thank You cards.
Situations like these call for dedicated customer service reps, or CSRs. Industry leading auto repair shop experts recommend hiring a CSR to ensure that your shop is providing an exceptional experience by focusing on relationship-building tasks that are crucial for your shop's success For example, CSRs can:
•Greet walk-in customers and answer phone calls. You know about first impressions, but also know that a dedicated CSR can make customers feel special the second they connect with your shop by providing dedicated attention.
•Take care of all follow up calls and Thank You cards. Let your customers know they're important by having a CSR contact them regularly. Customers will appreciate the extra attention.
•Generate and send out service and appointment reminders. People appreciate news they can use. A dedicated CSR can keep your shop on your customers' minds (in a good way).
•Collect testimonials and run referral programs. Testimonials should be displayed in an obvious location so that first-timers can see honest accounts of your customer service in action. It's amazing how quickly testimonials can convert clients. Again, dedicated CSRs can speak with your customers and find out personally how your shop has solved problems.
CSRs can do all of these things so that you can focus on running your business and making sure other needs have been met. It's impossible to be everything to every customer in your shop, but customers have little sympathy for your busy schedule. They want exceptional service and to feel special. The great thing is, customers aren't picky about who provides exceptional service so as long as it happens.
After you've hired dedicated CSRs, be sure they know their first priority: to build relationships. It's a big job. Let your CSRs know how important they are in the entire process. CSRs help turn one-time customers into clients and clients into fans. Finally, be sure to select caring and charismatic characters for this line of work so that when customers think of your shop, they think of great people and good service.

A Guide to Auto Detailing

If you want to enhance the look of your vehicle, take it to an auto detailing shop. Most places charge a nominal fee for auto detailing services. If you find that you are in between paychecks and can't afford to get to an auto detailing shop right away, you can do some light detain on your own until you are able to get to the shop.
The first thing you need to do is to wash the outside of the car with soap and water. You can use a car wash liquid or you can use dish soap. Be sure to have another bucket available with just plain water. Take a hose and spray the car down to get rid of the grime and dirt. Wheel cleaner can be sprayed onto each wheel and let it sit for a few minutes. By letting it set, it will soften up the brake dust and will allow you to have an easier time to cleaning your wheels using a sponge and soapy water, clean the vehicle one side at a time. It is usually easier to start with the roof and work your way down. Then rinse off the car and then clean the wheels with a brush and then rinse them.
Clay bars can be bought at any automotive parts store. There are different grades available, but fine or medium is best. What the bar does is it gets all the bugs, grease, dirt and contaminants off of your car. Take an empty spray bottle and add soap and water. Spray each side of the car with the soap and water mixture and then take the clay bar and rub it over the parts of the car in order to remove all of the contaminants. Then take a hose and rinse off the entire car.
Polishing your vehicle can be done by hand with a rag or by using an electric buffer. Many people tend to choose an orbital buffer because it helps to prevent them from ruining the paint. As a small amount of the polish either straight onto the car or onto the buffer pads. You then need to let it dry completely before the next step.
The next step is to take a swirl remover and go over the entire vehicle with a swirl of mover which will help to get rid of scratches and swirl marks. Let the remover dry and then take a clean cloth and wipe down the car.
Take the rubbing compound and clean the taillights, tailpipes and headlights. If you find that the headlights are starting to look faded, you may need to utilize some sand paper along with soap and water. There are also kits that are sold that are used to clean the headlights and tail lights. Be sure not to utilize a lower number texture of sandpaper, because this will scratch plastic and you may not be able to fix it after that. You want the finest sandpaper but not the lowest number. You can clean the tailpipe with polish that is made to clean aluminum or metal.
Take a clean cloth and some liquid wax in order to ask the vehicle. You do not need to use a lot of wax. Let the wax dry on your vehicle and then take a clean rag and wipe the car down. The end result will be a shiny vehicle.

Should You Buy A Car Through Craigslist?

If you are in the market for a used car, you might be wondering whether you should look for one on Craigslist. You have probably heard the horror stories about people being victimized by Craigslist scammers. While that is certainly true, there are ways to avoid those pitfalls.
There are several scams that are very easy to spot. They include;
The seller offers to ship the car upon receipt of payment.
  • The seller wants payment via money gram, postal money order, etc.
  • The seller wants the payment wired to another country.
  • The seller claims to be in the military and is stationed overseas.
  • The vehicle is priced way below the book value.
  • There is no phone number in the posting or if there is one, the person is a go-between or pickup agent.
In addition to these, there are some disadvantages to purchasing a car through Craigslist. One is that you have no recourse against the seller if there is a problem with the sale or the car. Also, the seller cannot help you with financing.
There also some many advantages to buying a car through Craigslist. You can often find a good deal. Craigslist is local so it is easy to meet the seller face to face to look at the car. Many other online sites are not local. You can look at a lot of vehicles quickly without having to drive anywhere. Also, you do not have to commit to buying the car online as you do with some other sites. Craigslist does not involve itself in the transaction. That leaves you free to negotiate with the seller and pay them directly.
There are many ways to make your Craigslist used car purchase a satisfactory and safe experience. First, make sure you have the seller's phone number and not just their email address. Then arrange to look at the vehicle in a public place during the day. You will be able to inspect the car and see any defects better in the daylight. You will also want to look over the service records on the car if the seller has them. Do not bring cash with you when you look at the car as you could be walking into a planned robbery.
You should also inspect the title to the vehicle. If the seller cannot show you a title walk away. No matter what they tell you, without a title, you will not be able to register or legally drive the car. If the title has a lien on it, make sure you see the original lien release. The title should also be in the seller's name. If it is not, the seller may actually be an unlicensed or unscrupulous dealer that is jumping the title. Title jumping is illegal in most states. It is usually a sign that the car has been in a major accident, flooded or has some other serious issue.
Even if there is no problem with the title, you need to protect yourself by doing two very important things. One is to get either a CarFax or AutoCheck report on the car. These reports tell you if the car has been flooded, salvaged, junked, been in a major accident, had its airbags deployed, had multiple owners, been branded as a lemon, etc. They will also tell you the last recorded mileage. Many sellers will provide the report to you. If not, you can purchase one for less than $35. The information they provide is well worth the cost.
The second thing you need to do is have the vehicle checked out by a mechanic before you buy it. The mechanic will tell you any current problems the car has that even the seller may not be aware of.
Once you decide to buy the vehicle and agree on a price, make sure you get a receipt for your purchase and get the title in your hand.

Top Tips When Buying a Car Online

Buying a car online might seem like a risky proposition. If you follow some sensible precautions, though, it can be quick, convenient and a great way to find a real bargain.
Buying and selling can be done via free classified ads sites and paid for ones too. There are also online auction sites. With any website that are selling cars, you will always find unscrupulous individuals looking to make money without actually selling you a car. Unfortunately, this is the nature of the beast, but depending on which site you use, you'll have a degree of protection. Sites that provide more space for photographs and other information, will give you a better idea of the vehicle's condition.
Before you buy, arm yourself with some research on the kind of price you can expect to pay for the sort of car that you're looking for. There are various websites that can help you to do this. You can also review completed listings on other sites to see what price the car's finally sold for. This will give you a good idea of the usual price range.
A reputable seller will normally take full advantage of the extra space offered by a website to post lots of pictures of the interior and exterior of the car, along with extensive descriptions. Honest sellers will include photographs of any rust, dents, scratches or other damage to the car so that you can make an informed decision. Be extremely wary of listing with only a few images, especially if they look as if they were lifted from a catalogue rather than taken by an ordinary person.
You should be especially cautious of any listings that are priced much lower than you would normally expect, especially if the car is very new. These are almost certainly fake. There will usually be some kind of cover story - the seller has debts or financial obligations he must discharge immediately, the seller is moving abroad shortly and needs a quick sale - in an attempt to explain away the unusually low price and win sympathy for the seller. Don't fall for these yarns, however, as they are classic signs of a scam.
Never forget to run an HPI check on any car you wish to buy. When you buy, you become the legal owner of the car so you must make sure it has a clean history. Some sites offer inexpensive checks of the cars listed, to ensure that they have been come by legally. If not, there are sites and companies that can do this.
Some sites require that buyers and sellers register a unique user ID with the site. The user's profile has records of their buying and selling history, including how long they've been a member of the site and what feedback they have received from other users. If you see that a seller has received one or two pieces of negative feedback in the past, you can take a look and see how the dispute was handled. This will give you a good idea of how the seller is likely to respond if any problems come up.
As well as sellers with large amounts of negative feedback, you should be wary of sellers who have only registered very recently, especially if they somehow have large amounts of positive feedback. Online criminals employ shills and multiple accounts to artificially boost their feedback rating. A long-standing profile with just a little negative feedback is much more reliable than a new profile with no feedback or only positive ratings.

New or Used Cars - Which Are Better to Buy?

Buying a used car was once seen as a distinctly second-rate option. Your first car might be a used vehicle -- some old banger that you wouldn't mind bearing the brunt of your embryonic driving skills -- but after that, you'd want new all the way. In these straitened economic times, however, used cars are an increasingly inviting option. As the price of a new car climbs, the pre-owned vehicle sector claims a more and more significant share of the auto market. Car dealerships are responding to this, however -- they're trying to win back customers by offering more favourable terms and special deals on new cars.
Both new and used cars have their advantages. A new car is typically more reliable than a used one; breakdowns and mechanical glitches can cause a lot of inconvenience, not to mention expense. Used cars of dubious provenance can be a false economy, hiding hundreds or thousands of pounds-worth of future repairs under their carefully re-sprayed hoods. A used car also has a far lower resale value than a new one, making it a poor investment. While new cars tend to be far more expensive, you can often find extremely competitive special offers that can cut the cost of a new vehicle significantly. It's especially easy to find these online.
Another factor to consider is the rapid advance of technology. Buying an older car means that you won't get to benefit from recent improvements, such as fancier electronic gadgets or enhanced fuel economy. This can affect how economical your car is to run, since there may have been significant improvements even in the space of two or three years.
On the other hand, it's possible to buy used cars that are certified to meet a high standard of good repair and dependability. Some models are particularly reliable and these often retain a large proportion of their future resale value. It can sometimes be cheaper to insure a used model (provided it's in good repair) because the car's value is lower, making a quality used car cheaper to run. The Internet also makes it easier for you to track down quality used cars with low mileage and good provenance.
Not all changes made by the manufacturer between model years are necessarily for the better. You might find a feature that was written out recently more desirable than the current version. For example, maybe you'd prefer to have a manual transmission but the manufacturer no longer offers this in the car you're looking at. Choosing a used car also lets you explore more high-end options than you might otherwise be able to afford, with larger, higher-performance or more luxurious vehicles being brought within your price range. If you're a fan of luxury and the choice is between a brand-new Toyota or a used Lexus, the Lexus might suit you better.
In the end, the choice between new and used largely comes down to resale value. While all cars begin to decline in value as soon as you drive them off the dealer's forecourt, and while some lose their value more slowly than others, you'll recoup more of your money if you're selling a car with one owner rather than two. The drop in value between a second-hand car and third-hand can be very dramatic. If you're looking at your vehicle as an investment and plan to sell in the near future, a new car is the best bet as it will keep its resale value for longer. If you don't plan to sell anytime soon and simply want a quality, reliable vehicle at a good price, a good used car may well be the winner.

Chrysler LHS Transmission Control Module

The Chrysler LHS was in production between 1994 and 2001. It was a front wheel drive car, boasting a 3.5 litre V6 engine, a 4-speed automatic transmission and was based on the Chrysler LH platform. During its various production stages, the vehicle was complemented on its ability to provide a combination of high-end market related features and a reliable performance, comparable to other more expensive vehicles.
A Transmission Control Module (TCM) is a predominant feature of any vehicle of this nature and the LHS offered a complete package to motorists in respect of comfortable driving and performance. Only a few years before the partnership with Daimler Benz, various journalists compared the first generation of this vehicle with a German designed car. The ease of driving a car and the comfort associated with it is directly related to the automatic control provided by a TCM. Its fully electronic control may be a stand-alone module or one that is integrated with a Power-train Control Module (PCM, depending on the production year and application.
When compared to adjustment made manually in the past, for example to fuel/air ratios, ignition timing and other aspects, many motorists could be forgiven if they regard a TCM almost as science fiction. It operates with other electronic controlling devices, to provide data related to various aspects of driving conditions. This is achieved by a variety of transmission and engine sensors, which enable the smooth and efficient gear shifting. A solenoid pack is activated by the transmission, to affect changes in the hydraulic fluid flow, through the body of the valve to the various clutches used in the transmission functions.
The varied control factors of the transmission are maintained electronically by remote supervision on the vehicle, which includes shift points and firm functions; torque converter lock-up and overdrive engagement. Practically every aspect of an experienced transmission condition in the Chrysler LHS is monitored. It includes the fluid pressure, the temperature of the engine coolant relative to performance, input and output speeds and the rate at which the car is traveling. To function to its full capacity, a TCM requires various exterior data inputs. These could consist of a sensor to determine the throttle position, a wheel speed sensor and a control system for recording the traction of the vehicle.
The overall operating capabilities of a Chrysler LHS TCM could be described as a networking facility. The driver of a Chrysler LHS is assured that continuous controls are being conducted by their vehicle regarding aspects related to its efficient operation, particularly in adverse driving conditions. These include, neutral safety switches, braking indications and cruise control functions.
The Chrysler Corporation has been associated with development related to vehicle construction and performance for many years. The first recorded instance of electronic transmission control in the 1980's is attributed to them. Their transmissions systems have been proven in many and widely varying fields of operation, including extreme conditions and have led to many of their production models being unique in their overall design.

Looking For Better Gas Mileage? Do Not Be Fueled

With gas prices climbing, everyone is looking for ways to improve their car's gas mileage. Most people are aware of the standard ways to do that like slowing down, not stopping or starting quickly, keeping the tires inflated, replacing the air filter and getting a tune up. Those with a gas guzzler may be hoping for something that will really improve its gas mileage. They may be tempted to try one of the hundreds of products that are advertised to produce 20% to 60% better mileage. The question is; do those products work?
The Environmental Protection Agency has tested hundreds of these products. Not only did they not find any that significantly increase gas mileage, they found that some of them can damage the cars' engine and increase its emissions. Some of these products boldly claim that they are approved by the Federal government or the EPA. This is a blatant lie as they do not approve or endorse any products.
There are a myriad of products claiming to increase gas mileage. They claim to work in a variety of ways. Some of them are added directly to the gas tank. These products are supposed to make the gasoline burn more completely thus improving gas mileage. They usually contain either acetone or naphthalene which is the main ingredient in mothballs. Not only do these products not work, they can damage the entire fuel system including the seals, fuel injectors and fuel pump.
Another group of products claiming to improve gas mileage are fuel line magnets which can range in price from $10 to $400. These magnets attach to the fuel line near the engine. Supposedly, the magnet breaks up clumps of gasoline molecules allowing them to be burned more efficiently. Although they do work on diesel engines, they do not work on gasoline engines.
Performance chips are another group of gas savings scams. These chips are placed on the air intake temperature sensor. The theory is that the chip spins the air so that it mixes better with the fuel and therefore burns better. The chip which is actually a resistor simply creates turbulence which slows down the air flow and may decrease gas mileage.
Another bogus gas saving device is the electronic engine ionizer. In this device the rubber capacitor blocks clip onto the spark plug wires. When one of the spark plugs fires, this device claims to use that energy to fire the spark plus in the cylinders that aren't firing. That firing is supposed to break down the gas left in those cylinders to make the next firings more efficient. The rubber on these devices can melt onto the manifold and cause a fire. And, premature sparking can damage the engine.
There are also hydrogen generators on the market than can cost up to $2,000 and claim to yield as much as 100 mpg. The theory behind it is the generator breaks up the water molecules into pure hydrogen and oxygen. The pure hydrogen helps the fuel burn better resulting in better gas mileage. The problem is that it does not produce enough pure hydrogen to be of any benefit and because it changes the oxygen levels it can damage the valve seals and heads.
The bottom line is that if any of the hundreds of alleged gas saving devices worked, car makers and gas companies would be using them. Unfortunately, they do not work. The only options a person who has a gas guzzler has are to continue to drive it or replace it. Car dealers and the public do not want them so selling it is not a viable solution. That leaves car donation as the best option. The tax deduction is a very good benefit from a very bad situation.
